Naturally Tan Hides & Furs. - E Book (PDF) 147 pages
$20.00

I want to share with you 4 years & thousands of hours worth of experience in this digital book. I had to teach myself this skill as I couldn’t afford expensive books or online courses. It took me a lot of trial & error to get to where I am now as I had no guidance. I want to give you guidance that I wish I could have received in this digital book.

You could do what a lot of people do & watch people on youtube who don’t really know what they’re talking about. There are very few people on that platform who really know what they are talking about. But as someone who wants you to learn this skill at an efficient rate, trust me. Do yourself the favor & get this book. You will save yourself so much frustration & thousands of hours of needlessly trying to figure things out on your own.

I see the direction society & that system is going in. It ain’t going up to say the least. I believe that this information may one day be needed out of necessity. It’s quite easy taking it for granted, being able to go to a store & simply buy leather. But what if we didn’t have that option? What if petrol prices were that high we couldn’t go into town & you needed clothes? You hear what I’m trying to say?

Possum Skin Baby Blanket - 9 Skins.
$450.00

This is a water proof, bark tanned baby blanket made of possum skins & sewn with linen, making it 100% natural. Being bark tanned, it’s strong, water proof, wind proof & just as soft as alum tanned skins. This blanket will last for a very, very long time. Once purchased, the owner upon request may have more juvenile skins added to this blanket at $40 per skin. So another row of 3 skins would be $120, another 2 rows top & bottom would be $240 etc.

If you are wanting skins added to blanket as your baby/child grows, you may send it back to me & get more skins added to it. It would need to be left un-lined though. However, I can line it upon request if cost of material is covered. Thanks, the support is much appreciated.

Bark Tan Possum Skin Cloak - 26 Skins

Bark Tan Possum Skin Cloak - 26 Skins
$1,780.00

A brushtail possum skin cloak, tanned with Mimosa tannin powder & softened with tallow. Each individual skin is then oiled with tallow, heated up near a fire, softened & sanded by hand. Brushtail possum fur is some of the highest quality & softest fur in the world. As in the fur fibers per sq inch is extremely high, but each fiber is hollow making it extremely soft.

Bark tanned skins are permanently transformed into a bio-logically stable leather. This strong bind that occurs between the tannin particles & collagen fiber structure, alongside the oil imbued into the skin make it water proof. It smells similar to wood, but does not have the usual stinky possum smell or greasy skin. Nice, dry & smooth. After it dries when it gets wet, it will either go back to being soft, or will go slightly stiff. Returning back to its soft state after some use.

I am one of the only people in New Zealand who does & plans on continuing to produce these exceptionally rare cloaks/garments/blankets. Item details are below. Most of the skins are 1st grades, some are 2nd grade. Few of them have small holes or patches of re-growth. Nonetheless, this does not affect the quality of the cloak, only the aesthetic on the “flesh side”.

Note: This is un-lined, keeping it in the style of a traditional brushtail possum skin cloak like Australian Aboriginal Natives would do. If you want a custom one made, with or without lining, please contact me & I will put you on a list. Don’t hesitate to contact me to organize & get an estimation of pricing as the list is already 4-6 people long. Will take me about 1-3 weeks to process each one. Thanks.

Dimensions: 107cm x 141cm
Weight: 1.63 KG
Tan: Mimosa Tannin Powder (Black Wattle/Acacia Mearnsii)
Average Skin Size: Medium, making this cloak $52 per skin.

Buckskin (3) - 16.2 Sq FT
$826.00

Very large smoke tanned hide prepared out of Farmed Red Deer Hide, 16.2 Sq FT. Frame softened so that it is nice & flat, passes the needle test with ease all over the hide. There is a small thumb sized dense area that’s very hard at the spine on the neck, rest of the hide is very soft. This hide in particular is thinner as it’s a female.

Softened with a combination of plant extract lecithin & olive oil, then smoked with punk wood from New Zealand. These hides have been frame softened so that the hide comes out nice & flat. All my hides pass the needle test, meaning that they are excellent quality for bead working, let alone for garments.
